August Favourites 2015!

I can’t believe that September is on our doorsteps already! August have flown by like a blink of an eye. It’s gone so quickly that I hardly have any new favourites under my belt, but I thought I’d share with you some of the stuff I have been loving…

Books
I know, I know the term books isn’t very specific, but I’ve found myself drifting towards the book stores and the aisles in supermarkets. I haven’t got a certain genre that I love, so if a book catches my eye it is bound to end up in my basket! My favourite two have obviously been the ones that I have written reviews about! Therefore grey and Baibies in Waiting have taken over most of my evenings during the month of August. A good book is what I look forward to, more people should read because you have the ability to create a story into what you think it should be.

Switched at Birth
Switched at birth is a American TV series that is available to watch on Amazon Prime. Basically its about two babies that were accidentally given to the wrong parent. There are secrets, arguments and a lot of catching up to do for the 16 years that were missed! I never thought It would be so good! All four previous series are available and throughout august this has been the programme I have been dying to watch. In about two weeks I got through three of the series, I’m currently half way through series four and I’m dreading it to end. I really have no idea what I’ll do with my life once I’ve finished!

MCoy’s Crinkle Cut Crisps
During summer you eat rubbish and lounge about at home most of the time, well I do anyway! The snack I have been grabbing a little more than I should has been the cheese & onion flavoured Mcoys. I don’t know why they are so good but they are and I can shamefully admit to wanting to eat a six pack in an hour. They’re so flavoursome and addictive that I can’t help but eat them!

Sorry there aren’t as many faves as normally but I have been lazy and haven’t done anything exciting! Hope you’ve had a great summer and happy September!

Review: Grey by E.L. James

E.L James is the author of the very famous writer of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. These three books are all from the point of view of Anastasia Steele, a 21 year old former student, who falls in love with a rich business man, Christain Grey, who loves to exercise control in many ways. The book grey is the same story told in Christians point of view. I loved it! It was definitely more vivid then the original three but it didn’t stop me from wanting to continuously read it.

The best part of this book is that it refreshes what you’ve read once before. You find your self getting lost in the book and thinking ‘oh yeah I remember this happen!’ It is so intriguing to read and see how differently each person reacts to what has happened. You can see why Grey is completely messed up and you can learn the horrifying truth of his past. It really puts his behaviour into presepective!

This book is only Christians point of view for what happens in the first book fifty shades of grey! I really hope James releases books for both fifty shades darker and fifty shades freed. Even though Grey will never be as good of the original fifty shades, it is a real joy to read and I can’t help but love it!! E.L James is an amazing writer and I believe I will continue to read any other books she decides to release. I guess James really does aim to please!

March Favourites 2015!

March and the rest of this year has flown by like a snap of your fingers. I can’t believe its April! I normally talk about my favourites of the month on the last Saturday of each month. However, I’ve had and still have a lot of work to finish. I was going ot leave it this month as all i have been needing is a laptop, notebook and the internet, but i have missed this blog way more than i should have. Its been a week maybe 2 since I last posted daily. So here goes my March favourites of 2015 are…

My number one favourite of this month has been the Now that’s what you call Disney  CD. When I have been writing and working, this album has been on replay in the background. It has been nice to just listen to of the old Disney Classics. I will admit that some songs had to be played numerous times in a row, because who doesn’t love the catchy beat of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (is that how you spell it?) and the soft sound of Beauty and the Beast. If you haven’t already gathered I am a Disney nut. I will live by Disney for all my life and if I have children they will be brought up doing the same. This album had 3 CDs that are jam packed with all the best songs throughout all the Disney Films. A guilty pleasure is Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid and I Won’t Say I’m in Love from Hercules.

Another item I have been loving is How to Train your Dragon 2.  I loved the first film back when that came out and I wanted to see the second to see if it raised to the expectations i had after the first. However, I never got round to watching it, that was until it came on Sky Demand. I watched it, loved it and watched it again…twice. The sequels of films are NEVER as good as the first, bu this film was amazing. You didn’t need to watch the first one to be able to watch the second. It wouldn’t have confused and just made it better. When I was younger I read the How to Train Your Dragon book and it was the biggest and best book I had ever read. It was the one book that I stuck around and read and I am so glad I did. This is because the film met the books description incredibly. What can I say I love the film and the book!

They’re my March Favourites, there aren’t as many as usually but I’ve been busy and I haven’t had time to swoon and love other things during this month. Happy April!! And I hope to be back Daily Blogging Soon!!

REVIEW: Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James

After, weeks of trying to watch the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, I finally got to go see it earlier this week. The cinemas have been chronic lately because of this film and now I know why. I have read all three books and now watched the first installment of the films. Because it’s me people are shocked when I say I’ve read them. Why should they be shocked? Oh yeah because it’s about a dominant male who gets pleasure from whipping the ass of females with brown hair. Okay I never really thought of it like that but I’ve read them now there’s no going back…

Anyway there has been a lot of hate on the film, saying it wasn’t as good as the book and that it provokes bad experiences with sex. I completely disagree with everything except that it wasn’t as good as the book. Can you name a film that was ever as good as the book? Because I can’t and I always read the books before watching the film. For instance Fault in our stars, great book great film but the book will always be better.

Lets just talk about the actors! They did the best job and they played the part that everyone had envisioned from the book. They played the characters just like you would have hoped for. When it was first released who the actors were everyone was shaming Jamie Dornan for not being the right actor. But I thought he did a marvelous job he was my Christian Grey. And the same goes for Dakota Johnson she was the Anastasia Steele that I had made up in my head! The only person that didn’t really fit in for me was Luke Grimes who played Elliot Grey, he just didn’t reach my description…

There was only one thing wrong with the film… they missed some of the best parts from the book! The moment she uses the safety word, the chef that Anastasia become close with and the moment she meets Mrs Robinson. Where are these minor details. This is why the book will be better. However, the film didn’t disappoint it was everything you thought it would be and they hit the nail on the head with the major details – the red room, the grand piano and the ceiling to floor windows. It was amazing! Highly recommend to anyone, even if you haven’t read the books this film will blow your mind and definitely leave you red faced when you are leaving the cinema! I wouldn’t advise watching it with a member of your family, maybe just take your Best Friend or even your boyfriend, just NEVER your mum!

P.S. My favourite part of the film is the conversation that goes like this…

Grey: You wouldn’t understand
Steele: Enlighten me then!

REVIEW: Walking On Sunshine

I love films, I am probably the biggest movie junkie ever. I can watch up to 4/5 movies a day back to back. Sad? Maybe but there is nothing better than snuggling up in your duvet in the dark with a great film filling the silence of the room. This is my kind of day!

Anyway I thought I’d review something difference this week, instead of books and music I’m going to review a film that I have recently watch. The film is called Walking on Sunshine, it is a musical that gathers some of the best 80s songs there ever was. It is a great story line, great actors and all the songs link in marvelously. I rate this film so much that I might just have to watch it after I’ve finished this review!

The basic plot of the film, is that this graduated Uni student (Taylor) has come back to the Italy where she fell in love for the first time 3 years ago. She didn’t only make the trip to rekindle the flame but to comfort her sister (Maddie) after a break up of a 6 year romance. With numerous songs later you finally figure out that Maddie is engaged and getting married shortly to the old flame of her sisters. To find out the rest you’ll have to watch the film…

Even though the film and story line was completely predictable, it doesn’t stop you from gasping when the relationship is revealed. It’s cheesy, funny and full of music. I think that is the perfect combination for a brilliant musical, in some ways it kind of reminds me of Mamma Mia just with a little more drama. I love musicals and this is definitely a must see. I love it!

The actors that starred in the film aren’t some of the big named actors but they were perfect for the part. The sisters Annabel Scholey and Hannah Arterton were perfect, the complete opposite in personality and looks, just like most sister! Even though I did love looking at Giulio Berruti’s body for one and half hours, I much preferred the perfect tone of Leona Lewis. Her Voice is to die for! Anyway, I’m such a musical fangirl that I would highly recommend this film to anyone who wants a good sing-a-long to some old classics!
